PostSubject: Alternator   Wed 19 Aug 2009, 4:20 pm

My alternator recently went on my talon. Im trying to it removed, im following the instructions from a haynes manual. Which states that you unbolt the power steering pump and put it off to the side. The only problem is when I loosen on of the bolts, it hits the pulley. I was also wondering if, I can just loosen the alternator mounting bolts and then take off the belt along with the alternator.

All I have to do is pull the AC fan if I have it and then drop it out the bottom.

I got another alternator. I tried to slide it over the bottom mount, but it doesn't go on it. Only one side would go on and the other side sticks out. I looked at the alternator and there is alittle circular metal piece inside the hole, where the bottom mounting bolt is suppose to pass through. I don't know if there is anyway to get that to go in more, because I believe that is what is causing the alternator to not slide over the bottom bracket.

Yes, that will slide in more and can also slide out more depending on which way you need it to go, it is a spacer that takes up the slop where the bolt goes through.
